About the Artist
James Green is an abstract artist working with oils and cold wax medium, he is based in Richmond, Virginia. After a 38 year career in the Information Technology field, James now explores the interplay and interactions of nature and urban settings, the beauty that time and the elements create in our surroundings on a daily basis. His work is characterized by highly textured forms and a grittiness found in urban alleys and streets, fluid and sometimes combined with the softness and flowing lines found only in nature.
Since 2018, James has exhibited work at Artworks, Crossroads, Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center, ArtSpace and the Richmond Main Library, is an exhibiting member of MRAA, Metropolitan Richmond Artist’s Association and serves on it’s board of directors as its technology advisor. He founded the group the Abstract Collective in early 2022, a small organization of Richmond abstract artists with an interest in innovative art-making based on experimentation and collaborative critique.
